GRANTS AND FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:GRANT OPPORTUNITY COMING UP:Challenge America Fast-Track, National Endowment for the ArtsThe Challenge America Fast-Track category offers support primarily to small and mid-sized organizations for projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations — those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Age alone (e.g., youth, seniors) does not qualify a group as underserved; at least one of the underserved characteristics noted above also must be present. Grants are available for professional arts programming and for projects that emphasize the potential of the arts in community development. This category encourages and supports the following two outcomes:
- Engagement: Engaging the public with diverse and excellent art.
- Livability: The strengthening of communities through the arts.
Challenge America Fast-Track grants:· Extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations.· Are limited to the specific types of projects outlined below.· Are for a fixed amount of $10,000 and require a minimum $10,000 match.
- Receive an expedited application review. Organizations are notified whether they have been recommended for a grant approximately six months after they apply; projects may start shortly thereafter.
- Partnerships can be valuable to the success of these projects. While not required, applicants are encouraged to consider partnerships among organizations, both in and outside of the arts, as appropriate to their project.
Applications are due by May 23, 2013.* * * * *MEYER MEMORIAL TRUST: www.mmt.org/grantsDeadline for Grassroots Grants up to $40,000; Deadlines – July 15, October 15* * * * *State of Hawaii, Creative Industries Division at DBEDT has posted an RFP for Professional and Industry Development Programs in the Creative Industry Sectors (RFP-CID-13-01). Call to All Painters and Artists:Lawai International Center’s Hall of Compassion is nearing completion; A replica of a 13th century Japanese Temple is nearing completion by volunteers at the Lawai International Center (please see the website for pictures of this amazing structure). <www.lawaicenter.org> The Center is asking interested painters to create watercolor and oil paintings which will be framed using the remnant sacred aromatic yellow cedar wood. Individuals can also use a piece of the cutoffs and remaining parts to create artistic and functional pieces such as bowls, containers, etc. — paint it, sculpt it, turn it, combine it with other media such as clay, glass, metal, paper mâché, etc. for a mixed media piece. Art pieces are to be completed by April 30th. These pieces will be on a benefit online auction to help raise funds to complete this extraordinary structure. Please e-mail Ray Nitta raynitta@yahoo.com or call (808) 652-5832 for more details and information.* * * * *Call to Youth and Adult ArtistsLighthouse Art Show – 100 Years of IlluminationKilauea Lighthouse Centennial 1913 – 2013March 31 – June 8, 2013Kong Lung CenterEmail Patrick Ching: <Patrick@NaturallyHawaiian.com> Tuesdays – Saturdays; April 6 to May 4, 2013, 10 am – 3 pmPatriotic Posters of First World War – Mabel Wilcox CollectionCollected during her war service in France1914 Mahamoku Beach House, 5344 Weke Road, HanaleiTour Historically intact Hanalei Bay Beach House of Mabel WilcoxSeries of Talk Story Luncheons during Exhibition byBarnes Riznik, Director Emeritus of Waioli Mission House & Grove Farm Museums$10 requested donationInfo: 245-3202; www.grovefarm.orgGALLERY SPACE Hanapepe
